India Tour of Film Until and Unless

In summer 2019 Anandam will premier our film Until and Unless, which focuses on the impact of Penal Code 377 on the lives of community members. We will hold a series of screenings and workshops involving the film in Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Pondicherry and Bangalore.

Cafe Mela

Cafe Mela is a social space created for LGBTQKH community members  across caste, social and economic boundaries. This is an opportunity for Anandam members and our partners to showcase their cooking, singing and dancing skills in a safe and supportive environment. We are thankful to Amra Adbhut Cafe for sharing their idea with us. We will host the Cafe Mela on Sep 22 at 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM. If you would like to attend, volunteer  or join us as an entertainer please let us know. We hope to see you there!

Gender Mela at Presidency University

Anandam and lISPAT, a sociocultural organization based out of of Presidency University who organizes social and academic workshops on campus, have joined together to organize a Gender Mela at the University. The program will include seminars and panel discussions focusing on gender awareness. The day long program will be followed by various cultural activities like face painting, poetry slams, paper presentations, musical concerts and a street play competition. The event will take place August 28- 29th 2018.

Mx. Trans Beauty Pageant Show 2018

MX. Trans Beauty Pageant is a competition that will showcase the talent, intelligence and beauty of India’s trans community. This pageant will be inclusive of all femme gender identities and will serve as an opportunity for participants and community members to rejoice in all that makes us fabulous! All are welcome to attend. More details to come.

LGBTKHAIQ~~ Parliament's Future

In 2019-2020 year, BDSA will be hosting the first West Bengal Queer Parliament meeting with participating organizations across the state of West Bengal. This caucus will (1) assemble with the intention of pressuring the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to decriminalize IPC 377 and reform the Transgender Protection Bill (2) culminate in a community generated list of recommendations to the government that will ensure LGBTKHAIQ~~ human rights and dignity.
